Become Free From Suffering

Hello my dear friends! I am happy that you stopped by my blog page!

I know that the name of this post doesn't sound too fun. But I think it can be very helpful for someone who wants to feel more freedom in his or her life!

Here is the link to my YouTube Video in case you prefer to watch rather than read: Become Free From Suffering.

I put together 5 simple ideas that can help you to start working on yourself. Of course you cannot magically become absolutely happy in one day, but you definitely can improve your life if you apply these simple suggestions.

So what are they?

1. Admit! Admit that you suffer and that whatever you have been doing before didn't work. A lot of people don't even notice their problems, they cannot see the real root of their discomfort. Buddha said: all life is suffering and the main reason of suffering is desire/dissatisfaction. We want something, we cannot get it, we suffer. Very simple, but yet I know a lot of people who are denying their pain and as a result don't do anything about it or do something that doesn't help. Usually we rely on external things thinking that getting them will make us happy. I was lucky enough to have no place to run, so I had to look for the answers inside and it helped. So I recommend you to stop chasing things or people and admit that external events can only make you happy for a little while, and if you want to be free you need to work on yourself!

2. Make a decision! The decision that you will put efforts to get free from suffering. Make it and stick to it. You need to be committed to this idea, you need to work hard. You need to train your brain. It is the same as a diet or workout. Some people just wake up one day and decide: okay, I suffered enough, I want to lose weight, I want to have healthy lifestyle. And they do it! They achieve great results! If you want to grow your muscules you need to work out constantly, if you want to lose weight you need to watch what you’re eating all the time. The same thing with your brain. If you want to make it strong you need to make a decision and exercises, you need to know the techniques. And this leads me to the point #3.

3. Find a teacher! The best teacher would be someone who is already happy and calm. Someone who doesn't freak out, someone who is full of wisdom and kindness. To me the best teachers are Christ and Buddha. You can find the answer to any question in their teachings. But I needed someone who can translate these teachings to me, who can pick the right subjects that I needed. And I found Michael Singer and Thich Nhat Hanh. Both of them talk in their teachings about Buddha and Christ. Michael Singer explains everything really well using simple words, simple sentences. And he is kind of funny :-) When I am listening to him, I always have this thought in my head "Oh, here comes the truth!" Thich Nhat Hanh is extremely kind! I love his meditations and the way he talks about suffering and compassion. You can find your own teacher and you can have as many of them as you want. Get some knowledge from them, learn some techniques.

4. Practice, practice, practice! If you don't practice, you will not be able to achieve any results. I already mentioned this in idea #2. Try to find the technique which works for you. I personally change them once in a while, the same way I change my workout routine. You don't have to pick one guided meditation and listen to it for the rest of your life. But you do need some exercises on daily basis. I love to put stickers all over my place, ha-ha. On my door I have the one which says "Say Yes to your Universe". And every time I leave my apartment I have this nice reminder that whatever happens - happens for the best! I will share more specific ideas in my other posts. But you need to do your research.

5. Believe! You must believe that freedom is possible! You cannot go anywhere without hope, without trust. You are strong and Universe is there for you! You shouldn't have any doubts that if you put efforts they will be paid off. I swear I changed my life by working on myself. Of course there always will be moments of sadness, but they will be so short and they will have the beauty in them, not the feeling of despair.

I am wishing you a lot of luck in this life-long journey! Remember - it is all about having fun! There is no need to waste your time on negativity!
