Be Happy Here and Now
Hello my dear readers! Thank you so much for reading my article!
I had a very nice week! I feel like I enjoyed every moment of it.
Here is the link to the video to this article: Be Happy Here and Now.
Today I want to start my article with some jokes I read in a book, that I bought a while ago for practicing my English. This book is called "The Greatest Joke Book Ever" by Mel Greene.
"We are born naked, wet, and hungry. Then things get worse"
"Don't take life too seriously, you'll never get out alive"
"He who laughs last, thinks slowest!"
Okay, all jokes aside I want to talk about suffering now, about suffering and the way you can get rid of it.
I made an observation the other day, that a lot of times I get upset because I expect a certain outcome and it doesn't take place. Instead of getting what I wanted I can face opposite result. And I judge this result as negative. So what can you do about that? How can you avoid this unpleasant situation?
Well, first of all you need to remember that there are a lot of things you cannot control. And it is very naive to think that life will always be just the way you plan it. When Unpleasant outcome takes place, try not to judge it as bad (by the way, it is also better not to judge pleasant outcome as good). You don't really know what life will bring you tomorrow. We know so little about the whole Universe, about the gifts that God prepares for us. Maybe event that looks really bad today, will bring you something extremely pleasant surprise tomorrow. And some things are just meant to make us stronger, they help us to grow and help us to be the best version of ourselves. So stop judging the outcomes!
The other thing you can do is to come back to present moment if you start focusing too much on future outcome. It is very easy to do, you can just focus on your breath, how air coming in and coming out. Or if you are doing something, like cleaning or running a report, you can focus on the action you are performing right now. Otherwise you can miss your whole life and spend time in future that will never take place. Thoughts about future a lot of times create anxiety and worries. On other hand, when you are focused on present moment, you are happier and much more productive.
And I also love gratitude as a weapon against thinking about outcome. Count your blessings instead of thinking about future and things you want to get, events you want to take place. There is something to be thankful for every single day! Gratitude is very easy to develop, you can train your brain to be more grateful and as a result you will become much happier. Gratitude helps to stay present also.
Remember, by creating in mind specific image of outcome that you want to get, you limit yourself and your happiness. It is great to have goals, but it doesn't mean that goals should take you away from what is going on now.
The best things in my life happened when I least expected. But they happened because I created foundation for being able to grab the opportunities that came to me. And great foundation is built out of present moment and focusing on your current tasks, not from constant dreaming about unknown future.
To sum up, I recommend you to stop judging outcomes as good or bad. Try to stay present and focused on what is going on now. Be grateful for what you have! Please take care of yourself!
