What Do You Need To Know
Hello my dear readers! I hope you are doing well and taking care of yourself!
As usual, I would like to share the idea which helps me to be better in the area of self-development.
Here is the link to the video for this article: What Do You Need To Know.
Not long time ago I started watching the course about Financial Markets. And in introduction to this course professor Shiller said very interesting thing from my point of view. He said, "This course is not about making money, it is about knowing how things work". And I think it is so important to understand how things work. And it is important not only in Financial Markets, but in self-development area as well.
If you want to achieve great results, you need to know how your brain works.
I personally like to learn more about neuroscience and neuroplasticity, study psychology and behavior, but you don't have to do that in order to understand yourself. All you need to do is to observe yourself, your own emotions, your thoughts, your actions, what can trigger you, what are you afraid of. If you know your weaknesses and your strengths, it will be much easier for you to handle any situation, because you will be able to predict your own behavior and avoid some unnecessarily action which can bring you new problems. So all you need to do is stay mindful and study yourself.
This self-knowledge is not that hard, but it can change your life if you constantly gaining it. Let's come back to financial markets. If someone knows really well how things work on the market, this person even in difficult situation will know how to move, how to avoid wrong decisions. He still might be hurt by the conditions on the market, but not as much as someone who has no clue how economics machine works. The same thing happens with our lives in general. If you know yourself really well, you will be able to handle difficulties better.
Life cannot be perfect, there always will be something that can be scary. And it is not about trying to avoid difficulties which are actually unavoidable, just be honest with yourself, it is about knowing how your brain works and handling any situation. It's about being able to put yourself together, even if things are not the way you want them to be. It can be very useful to remember the times, when you were able to handle tough situations and remind yourself about them.
In the end I wanted also to point out that we cannot know everything. And a lot of times we make assumptions in the areas where we have very little or no information. I believe that these assumption where you don't really know what is going on might be very dangerous. If you don't really know the subject, you either need to get a deeper knowledge and it requires some time and efforts, or you need to learn how to let it go, let other people figure it out, maybe even let life itself fix it. Don't try to fix something you have no clue about.
Please take care of yourself, believe in your potential to overcome any difficulties and work on yourself.
