Besaly Checklist
Hi everyone! Usually I post new articles and videos every other Sunday, but today is a great day! 4 years ago today on May 28th 2017 I posted my first video on my YouTube Channel! Here is the link to my first video - Be Strong And Love Yourself.
I also would like to share my Checklist, which helps me to evolve and stay productive.
I am very happy that I've been working on my blog for four years. My videos helped me to learn how to love myself, they helped me to grow, they motivated me to learn new things and work on my self-development. I am very thankful for each and every person who watched my videos and read my articles. And today I want to pay you back and give you a little gift.
I believe that self-discipline helped me a lot to become happier. When I was lazy and not focused I suffered much more. And the more control over my actions I had, the easier life became for me. One of the tools that can help a lot to become more disciplined is a daily checklist. It can be different for everyone. The main idea is to create list of important things that you can score every night. It is like accountability instrument. During the day you can do whatever you want, but at night you know that you will look at your checklist and you will have to be honest with yourself, you will have to write it down, to face the truth. You look at the list and you know if you learned something new today, if you were kind to others, if you were able to stay mindful, or you just wasted the whole day of your life and haven't even realized how it passed, or you hurt someone that day and didn't even notice. Your checklist can help you to pay attention to what you are doing, to remember about important things, to be responsible for your actions, your life. And this list is very simple.
You can upload my version here and use what I have in my list, or you can create your own.
Here are the details/instructions to my list.
Evaluate each section in the list daily by assigning a score from 1 to 10. In the end of the week look at the areas of strengths and weaknesses. Write down your victories and what you can do better next time.
This will help you to understand what areas you need to work on more, and what areas you are already good at. And this list will keep you accountable during the day. Sometimes I don't want to study, but then I think what score will I have in the end of the day for "Learning" section? Zero? Is this how I really want to spend my day?
Here are the details for the sections that I have in my checklist:
Be Strong And Love Yourself (Self-Care). In this section I evaluate how caring I was, did I have mean thoughts about myself, was I hurting my self-esteem with my own actions and words? Were my choices made based on long-term goals or short-term pleasures?
Purpose. In this section I reflect scores of what I did for my blog. My main purpose is to help people via my YouTube Channel and my blog, so I need to do something related to this area more or less everyday. It can be draft of article. Or I can rehearse a new video. I can listen to some teachers to get new ideas. Or I can just think of something that I can do to improve my blog and channel.
Trust. How much I trust life during this particular day. Did I freak out because something went not the way I planned? Was I too scared? Did I lose my trust? Trust is extremely important for happiness. And sometimes I stay positive only because I believe that everything happens for my highest good, so I want to keep my trust level high through the day.
Honesty. It is important to be honest with yourself first of all. The biggest pain in the world is to be delusional. Reality always win, no matter how hard we try to push it away. And if you lie to yourself, the reality will hit you even harder. And it is better to be honest with other people too, to be open. It doesn't mean to be rude or mean, but not to hide something that can help other person to be in reality. For example, if you don't want romantic relationships with another person, don't pretend that it can happen only because you feel lonely sometimes.
Mindfulness. It is important to notice your own thoughts, to be aware of your fears, to control your reactions to certain events. It is also related to your emotional intelligence. We all have feelings and we cannot always be happy, positive and nice inside. But we can notice our feelings and take actions that will benefit us in a long run without hurting other people. I try to meditate everyday, because it helps to notice feelings, thoughts and emotions better.
Productivity. This section helps me to evaluate how productive during the day I was in general. Did I waste a lot of time watching beauty videos on YouTube or doing online shopping? Did I use my time wisely, did I follow my schedule? What did I achieve during the day?
Morning. To me the beginning of the day is super important. I need to start it with something useful and healthy, to show myself that I can take care of myself and I can be disciplined. So I try to spend my morning on something useful like walking, workout, meditation, etc.
Health. This section consists of three components for me: sleep, food, exercise. So if I didn't sleep well, I take away 3 points out of 10 for example. Or if I ate too many sweets I can take out 4 points. Pretty simple math!
Finance. I have my budget, I have my expenses, I compare these two to each other. I am a human, sometimes I spend more than I should, sometimes I buy things I don't need. So I try to track these things in order to stay financially disciplined.
Cleaning. There is always something I can improve in my apartment. And I am very lazy in this area. But if I keep myself accountable, it is easier to be more productive. I try to de-clutter something, to check my fridge if everything is nice and fresh, wash my floors, get rid of not needed makeup, etc.
Words (No complain/no blame). Complains and blaming is such a waste of time! It is amazing how much time we can save if we stop doing that! Of course sometimes it helps to share your frustration with your friend or family member, but not too much, there should be some limitation. And words also have a huge power on our well-being. If you say too many negative words everyday, you will become negative by yourself. So please pay attention on how much negativity through words you are putting out there.
Kindness. Believe it or not, but I am not very kind person by nature. I had to train myself to be more kind and the fact that I have this section in my checklist helped me a lot! It doesn't feel good when in the end of the day you have to admit, that you hurt someone for no reason. Understanding and compassion make our life much easier, and it is better to be kind to others for your own good. Just remember, it doesn't mean you have to lie. You can be understanding and honest at the same time.
Beauty. I am a woman and I believe that it is my obligation to take care of my skin, my hair, my nails. It doesn't mean I should always look perfect (I will never look perfect), but to look nice is important. I care about my style and when I look neat I feel happier, so this is important part of my life. I understand that not everyone cares so much about the way they look. You can cross the word beauty and write down something like 'being a man' instead, if you are a guy :-)
Learning. Last but not least. It is super important for well-being to learn something new everyday. It can be something small. You don't have to spend hours on learning new things everyday. But there should be something. This is as important as working out and eating healthy. Your brain needs exercises. So please try to find a little bit of time to gain new knowledge.
In my list I have blank lines that you can use to insert your own ideas. Or, as I said before, you can create your very own list from scratch based on your values. The important part is to be responsible for your life and do it everyday!
Happy 4 years old birthday to my YouTube Channel and to my blog! Thank you for reading my articles and for watching my videos! Please take care of yourself!
