Morning Ritual


Hello my dear readers! I hope you are doing well!


I was so lucky to discover a new awesome habit for myself recently. I can't wait to share it!


Not long time ago I was invited to a meeting scheduled for 7 am. To be honest it is kind of early for me. I prefer to start at 9 am or so. I accepted it, because it was important for my self development and I was thankful for my co-worker who wanted to share interesting information with me. I woke up at 6 am, took a shower and logged in to my computer. And... I found out that my meeting was re-scheduled for another day. I was so happy because I had an hour to myself. I watched Brian Tracy's video about morning routines the day before and wanted to apply some of his advices and add my own ideas.


And you know what? I was shocked how my morning self-care routine changed my whole day. Since then I give this gift self-care to myself every morning and I see a huge benefit of it.


I am going to share with you my ritual, my list of useful things, but you can also create your own. Just remember that this self-care should be the way as loving parent would take care of his child. Imagine, what would you do for you kid if you had one, how would you want him to spend his morning? So you got the idea, right?


And here is my list of "do's" and "don'ts"


  1. Do not start your day with watching or reading news. There is no need to find out what was going on right after you opened your eyes in the morning. News are usually negative and they can also be not even true. So by reading news first thing in the morning you only create unnecessary worries.

  2. Do not check your work emails right away. You need to accumulate good energy before you face other people needs. A lot of work emails are related to some type of work. And it might be hard to satisfy these needs when you haven't even woke up completely. You can get stressed and ruin the whole day.

  3. Meditate. The action of meditation helps to stay aware, it gives more control over thoughts and emotions, makes you more calm. It is a reminder of the fact that you are in control, that you know what is going on in your head and it also helps you to stay focused.

  4. Positive video. It is nice to watch some quick video of nature or kittens or puppies. I love gratitude video that I can watch million of times and it never gets old (I will leave the link in the end of this article). It also will be a reminder that life can be very beautiful!

  5. Read. I like to read positive self-development books in the morning. I get some good advices, find motivation in them, and I feel like I take care of myself. When we learn something new it always feels good, so why not learn something new and positive right when you day starts?

  6. Eat healthy breakfast. I like oatmeal, or eggs with veggies, or cottage cheese with fruits. And I love to drink hot tea with lemon in the morning! If I wake up earlier, I can do it without rushing myself and really feel pleasure of yummy food and my favorite tea!

As I said, your list can be different, but it should be full of care! And you need to make this extra time for yourself, so you are not in a hurry. The main point of the morning ritual is to show yourself, that you can take care of yourself. This way you build trust in yourself, you start to believe in yourself. And it helps to face different life events with less fear, it changes your reactions to life circumstances. You know that you can handle everything because you take care of yourself!
