My Birthday Month
Hi my darlings!
I had a wonderful time in August, because it was my Birthday Month.
Here is the link to the video for today’s article: My Birthday.
I actually started celebration in the end of July, because my boyfriend Justin couldn’t wait to treat me, he is very cute and thoughtful. We went to Maple & Ash and to Somerset, these are two nice places in Gold Coast area.
In the beginning of August, I had a nice facial and had my hair done in Mario Tricoci salon. I go to 900 N Michigan Avenue; my hair colorist is Bethany, and my esthetician is Demy. They both are great!
On August 13th I celebrated my birthday with my girlfriends Sally, Kelly, and Cheryl in Deer Path Inn hotel in Lake Forest. There is a nice restaurant which is called English Room. We go there for my birthday every year, it’s like a tradition. I got a lot of gifts, it was so nice!
On August 14th I met up with my friend Liz and her little daughter Emma. We went to carnival and then we had a dinner at Shakou Sushi, cute Japanese restaurant.
On August 17th I flew in Albany, NY. My aunt and uncle live in Saratoga Springs which is close to Albany airport. It was such a bless to spend time with them! I love the quote by Anne Lamott, “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” This is so true! And this trip to Saratoga Springs and time with my family were the best “unplug” ever. I am so grateful for my family!
On August 18th we went to an awesome All You Can Eat restaurant Wasabi, where we ordered some Japanese food (yes, I love sushi, rolls and etc, lol). It was so good, we tried tons of different options and kept ordering new ones, but they were so little that we didn’t really get too full. It was so perfect! We noticed in the corner of the menu that this restaurant was offering some AYCE for free on birthday. We didn’t know what ayce meant and assumed that it was the name of some cute Japanese dessert. So we told manager that my birthday was August 19, but as in Russia it already started, we asked if we could have this mysterious ayce for free. He thought for a second and agreed. And it turned out that ayce was “All You Can Eat” ha-ha! And my whole dinner was free. My uncle left them a good tip for that.
On my birthday on August 19th, we went to the Clark Art Institute. OMG! It was so good! I like art in general, but this time my expectations were definitely excided. First of all, I truly enjoyed a temporary Rodin exhibition that they had over there. Some of his masterpieces show the beauty of physical closeness, but in a very appropriate way. Not all of his sculptures I found likable, but some of them were really impressive. My favorite piece was “The Hand Of God”. Maybe I will make a separate article about it, we’ll see. You can find pictures in my gallery below. I also liked impressionism and Claude Monet in particular. He has some baby pink and baby blue colors which I find very pleasant for my eyes.
After the museum we had a dinner in the Golden Eagle restaurant with a spectacular view. I have never seen anything like that before. I love lake Michigan and how it looks, but I have never thought of how magical mountains could be! The food was also very good! It was the best birthday ever!
On August 21st we went to my favorite tea place The Whistling Kettle. It is so cute! They have great selection of different types of teas and nice afternoon tea set. Kind of like a British style, when the food is layer and you have sandwiches, a salad and desserts, super cute!
I spent a lot of time in a swimming pool. It was pleasant to read a book while I was laying on a floaty! I wish I could do it every day! I also enjoyed a workout on elliptical machine. And we also did a lot of walking in the park.
This vacation break was amazing, it gave me energy, brought me back to life and helped me to understand how I needed to organize my life, reminded me about my priorities. I am very thankful for it! My aunt Anna and uncle Gerard are the best!!! On August 26th I still was celebrating, this time I was meeting up with my friends from work Sammi and Mitchell. We went to a minigolf club. It was Mitchell’s idea, and I must say it was awesome! I lost the game, but oh boy I enjoyed it! If you are in Chicago and want to have fun, I recommend you visit this place.
So August was really fun and enjoyable! I must say that I am extremely grateful for my family and my friends. I don’t know how did I get so lucky and got so many interesting and nice people around me! I feel blessed!
I hope you enjoyed August too. Summer will soon come to an end, try to take benefit of what is left, spend time outdoors and don’t forget to take a pause!
