My Mini Vacation In Florida

Hi my darlings! Today I want to share my impression from the trip I recently made.

I got a little bit tired of Chicago weather. What bothered me the most was the fact that I wasn't spending enough time outdoors. In Summer I love to read in the park after work. But in winter in gets dark so early and it is just really cold in Chicago for outdoor reading, ha-ha. So I decided to go to some warmer place but at the same time I didn't want to spend too much money. And Orlando looked nice in terms of weather and price.

Here is the link to the video from my vacation - VLOG: my mini vacation in Florida.

I booked my trip on Expedia, but then I had to change the dates for one week and realized that it is very inconvenient to make changes on Expedia. So in future I probably will buy flight directly from airline company and book hotel separately. The other problem that I had was my flight cancelation. First I booked flight to Orlando with Spirit Airlines, but at 7PM the night before my flight they emailed me that my flight got canceled. They didn't explain anything and only returned part of the amount that I paid. They gave me a credit for the rest of amount, but I am not going to use Spirit in future. I found convenient flight with United and was very happy about it! I do like United, they usually have nice seats with very little extra payout. And they have flights to Albany that I visit once or twice a year, so work great for me!

When I got to Orlando the weather was about 80 degrees! I was charged $25 for early check-in that I didn't like, because I was waiting on reception for at least 30 minutes while they were processing me in their system. If you keep someone waiting for 30 minutes after the flight, you probably shouldn't charge extra for early check-in, ha-ha. I also didn't like my room. I couldn't keep my window open because people could see me through this window. And room didn't have celling lights, so it looked like a cave. It was much better on the photos in internet. In general I feel like this hotel is like a cheater, they lie about cleaning, extra fees, the way the rooms look. But I must say that I really enjoyed their pool area! It was so nice to be out under the sun! Yay!

Another good thing about hotel was its location. It had some amusement parks in a walking distance and it had mini golf that I truly enjoyed. And they also had Whole Foods not too far. Most of the restaurants in the area had not very healthy options, so I was buying food in the store from hot bar, and the Whole Foods over there had so many yummy and healthy meals!

Every morning I was working out and taking walks. I tried to stay in line with my regular schedule. It was so nice to be outdoors without worrying of being cold!

As I mentioned, there was mini golf that I liked a lot. It was the first time in my life playing it. I always wanted to try but never had a chance. So my mini dream came true! The golf was very cute, with pirates theme. I would recommend to visit it on weekday. When I can there on Friday, I was the only person on the side where I was playing (this mini golf has two options). I didn't have to wait for other people to get their holes, and no one was watching me playing. Some of the holes I re-did multiple times, so I could train a little bit. On Saturday this place was so crowded! A lot of big families with kids. So I actually waited more than I played. I still liked it, but on Friday it was definitely better! And I am very thankful that I had this pleasant experience!

On Sunday I went to Wonderworks - the amusement park where you can learn a bit about science and try different science related experiences. I tried mini earthquake, mini hurricane. There were a lot of paintings related to illusion and imagination. I tried to play a huge piano with my feet. It was fun, and not too much.

I enjoyed my vacation. It was a very short trip, but it helped me to learn a lot. First of all, I realized that I shouldn't be cheap. Sometimes you end up paying more, when you try to save and you don't get experience that you expect. So next time I will go to some warmer place and get more sunny days and I will book more expensive hotel.

And the most important thing that I learned was the fact that traveling alone is fun! I always was afraid of vacation by myself. I thought that it could be depressing, but in fact it was super nice! I didn't have to worry about being in line with someone's else plans, didn't have to ask anyone about anything, didn't have to wait for someone. There was no one complaining, no one telling what to do. I did everything at my own pace. Of course it can be great to travel with your friend or partner. But if you don't have one, it doesn't mean you cannot enjoy yourself.

I am so thankful that I have a nice job which can give me opportunities to be independent and enjoy my life the way I want! And I am glad that I finally was able to overcome my fear of traveling alone and I am going to do again and again!
